This is the site for Kip's NaNoWriMo project: The Funeral of Leroy Donovan. I'm hoping that by posting it online, I'll be able to keep rocketing on, instead of getting caught up in rewriting the beginning. Basically, by having it in two places, it'll be a pain in the ass to update and I'll just keep going.
The story is about a boy who wants to go on a roadtrip. However, his overprotective parents won't let him, so he concocts a fictional summer camp friend from his youth named Leroy Donovan. The boy tells his parents that Leroy was killed in a plane crash and so the Donovan family doesn't want anyone to fly in for the funeral. The boy and his father are supposed to drive down together but the father has something come up and the boy goes alone. However, the overprotective parents equip him with a cell phone and tell him to call every night. He knows he's going to be grilled, so he keeps a fake journal of the stuff he's telling them (so he can keep his stories straight). Sounds complicated, but it gets even more when he picks up a hitchhiker who isn't quite what she seems.
So, keep your browser glued here and enjoy. I welcome feedback on how it's going.
